Dynamic system or parameter identification by observed time series data has become increasingly important in area of structural engineering. These systems are generally much larger in size and much more complex and manifest intricate behaviors under seismic excitation so that accurate mathematical idealization Is not easy. This paper studies an identification procedure based on the extended Kalman filter, which may accommodate a finite element method relevant to the system and input parameters. And numerical studies are carried out for demonstration.
