BOSH REPAIRS #3 BLAST FURNACE EDGAR THOMSON PLANT MON VALLEY WORKS

After a successful blowdown of #3 blast furnace, which took 11 1/2 hours, the furnace was quenched to prepare for the top change and stack gunniting. The quench was controlled by the top sprays thru a Bristol Micro Processor and took about 21 hours to complete. We used at that time roughly 250,000 gallons of water. The quench was completed on the 19th of July, and after all stocks were dropped by midday, July 20,1992, removal of the top had begun.
