The process of dielectric recovery in the period of current zero has a close relation with the electric life of AC contactors under AC-4 duty condition. In order to fast evaluate the arc quenching performance of chambers, the experimental system based on Rabus' Substitute Principle has been used to measure the dielectric recovery strength of deion plate quenching chambers with different configurations. In this paper, not only the dielectric recovery strength are measured, but also numerical analysis of electric and gas-flow field are carried out for the deion plates with different arrangements. Combining the results of measurements and calculations, the influences of different arrangements of deion plates on the process of reignition and the dielectric recovery have been analyzed for AC contactor.
