Some new methods for the measurement of fine-pitch bevel gears

At present, there are some problems encountered in measuring fine-pitch bevel gears. Some existing measuring methods for checking the gears can not directly reflect the quality condition of the tooth working zone of gears, besides, the measuring accuracy is too low, thus these method can not meet the needs for the improvement of the gears accuracy and reliability. This paper is to analyse problems of the existing measuring methods, and on the basis of its analysis some new measuring methods are introduced in order to satisfy the demand for the profile, alignment and thickness checking for practice use. The author introduces the construction of a new-developed instrument, which can be used to check the deviation of the shaft angle for fine-pitch bevel gears, and gives some examples of the measurement on the instrument. On the basis mentioned above the author further recommends a new item of measuring the deviation of the shaft angle of a gear pair instead of those as described in the standard JB 306-62.
