In order to perform the numerical calculation of worm gearing engagement principles effectively, the interrelated variables of the contacting tooth surfaces of worm cutter and worm (ICW-Variable) and those of worm and wheel (IWW-Variables) are defined first. The relationship and value regions of ICW-Variables are discussed, end then the theory of worm tooth-surface-parameter network is presented. Based on the theory, the analysis of IWW-Variables is made and the method to determine their value regions is further proposed.
