The authors endorse the “aha!” experience as animportant cognitive event in the teaching/learning process. It isimportant because it enhances performance in creative problem solvingand creative design, and it can play a role in transforming learningfrom an activity of drudgery to one of enjoyment. It is pointed out thatthe “aha!” experience is not a substitute for preparationand diligence; it is a “value added” cognitive event thataffects our performance. It is further noted that we can assist studentsin developing their ability to evoke the “aha!” and to enjoyit, whether in the classroom or in the laboratory, we may play a role indeveloping a generation of students that finds learning exciting
