This paper introduces a scalable video coding scheme for stereo internet protocol television (IPTV). The proposed coding scheme is highly flexible to network bandwidth variation and compatible with mono video IPTV system. In this scheme, disparity map is computed and compacted to help autostereoscopic displayer synthesizing virtual viewpoints more quickly with lower complexity. Some experiments are carried out to evaluate performance of the proposed scheme. According to the experimental results, some improvements about prediction structure of the scheme are made to decrease the network bandwidth required by the scheme.
