Laminat4ed Structure of Fine SOlid Particles in Vibrated Container under Microgravity

Solid particle handling under microgravity becomes one of important technologies for future human activities in space: such as material production in space facilities or rsource treatment on the moon. The authors aim is to clarify behaviours of particles under an influence of forced vibration under microgravity, and to obtain basic information for development techniques of particle nandling: for example transportation or mixing under microgravity. This paper presents results of experiments on dense particles behaviour in a vibrated container under microgravity. Fine glass particles of 56 mu m in average diameter were vibrated in the rectangle container with frequencies between 50 and 250 Hz. Parabolic flights were performed for about 20 seconds microgravity. Particles has a laminated structure under microgravity: thin particle laers overlapped and thin air laers were interposed between one and the other. With increasing frequency, the number of larers increased and the distance between them decreased.
