The myoelectric responses from 156 electrically stimulatedcontractions in two different lumbar muscles were examined. A method forassessing the invariance of the motor unit pool during the contractionwas applied, and fatigue was evaluated. The assumption thatfast-fatiguing glycolitic fibers have larger diameters thanslow-fatiguing oxidative fibers is not always able to explain theresults. It is suggested that this assumption may not always be true inlumbar muscles
