Molecular permeability of the pulmonary endothelium capillary hasbeen assessed by the noninvasive indicator dilution technique. TheN-isopropyl-l-123-p-iodoamphetamine (I-123 IMP) capillary permeabilitysurface area per flow in the lung is calculated under the influence ofpharmacological intervention of propranolol. Four dogs were used in bothcontrol and experimental studies. The dogs, weighing 17 to 20 kg, wereanesthetized with an intravenous dose of thiamylal, approximately 10-15min prior to the administration of the reference tracer Tc-99m dextran.Results are presented and discussed
