An outlook of efficiencies of present day induction motorsmanufactured by European factories is given. An illustration of theimpact of improving induction motor efficiency as a factor of decreasingenergy consumption in the EU is also given. Another purpose is todescribe the “Hi-motors” (energy efficient induction motors)competition for motor manufacturers. The competition will be held in1997 by International Energy Agency (IEA). LUT is responsible forpreparing the technical requirements
