A Framework of Supporting System for Reducing Human Errors in Paperwork Tasks in International Transactions

In paperwork tasks of international transactions, documents with different formats are required by organizations forforwarding traded items. Document operators fill required information items according to labels in documents. When the operatorswork under heavy workload, errors in paperwork tasks occur, and transactions are delayed. In this paper, a framework is proposed forsupporting the operators conducting such tasks. An international logistics ontology is developed as a knowledge base for unifying theconcepts of information items required in documents. Mechanisms of system functions for reducing the target types of human errorsare described based on the framework. To show the appropriateness of the proposed framework, some examples are shown forexplaining the mechanisms.
