A futuristic look at what should be pursued in terms ofmeasurement instrumentation for aerodynamic research is presented. Acursory method is given for incorporating silicon microsensors, signalconditioning, and signal processing into a thin skin which willultimately become the surface of an airfoil. Polyimide is the candidatematerial suggested for use as the skin because of its flexibility and ICprocessing compatibility. Specifications are given for the detection ofboundary layer phenomena
