An introduction to computer programming for students with noprogramming experience

The Department of Freshman Engineering at Purdue teaches aone-credit computer literacy course for students with no pre-collegeprogramming experience. The eight-week course, offered twice during thefall semester, serves as an introduction to computing on the Purduecampus. Students with a high probability of performing unsatisfactorilyin a course that will satisfy the freshman requirements are recommendedto take the literacy course. In its first two years, 80% of students whotook the course were able to earn a C or better in a programming coursethat satisfied engineering requirements
