Copper and copper alloy strip metals used in connectorapplications are coated with tin to prevent tarnishing ,maintainsolderability, and provide surfaces with low contact resistance.Solderability performance was studied for a variety of copper-basealloys that were tin-coated with conventional electroplating methods andwith a newer hot dipped air leveled method. The solderabilityperformance of newer hot dipped coatings is generally equivalent orsuperior to that of the electroplated product. Further improvement insolderability can be leveraged through basis alloy selection
