Abstract: Laser backscattering nephelometry has been used to study dynamic properties of aggregating and nonaggregating suspension of erythrocytes and of the whole blood in shear flows. The exponential dependences of total amplitude of aggregation on the hematocrit and on the shear rate have been found and the characteristic rapid and slow aggregation times have been estimated. A possibility to evaluate the shear diffusion coefficient for a suspension of nonaggregating erythrocytes has been demonstrated.!
