Army Aviation mission scenarios have inherent risks associated with them. Risks are associated with weatherconditions, anticipated flight maneuvers, aircraft sensors and technologies, as well as aviator training and experience,attentiveness, and physiological conditions. We have initiated the development of an Aviator Risk AssessmentModel (AvRAM) aimed at modeling a multitude of factors that interact in a highly complex fashion to affect flightsafety and mission success. A single risk assessment score is derived that represents the summation of a range ofweighted composite risk assessment scores based on mathematical modeling of mission complexity, operationalstressors, and pilot particulars.
