Data transmission rates required for IoT systems are in the order of Gbps because of the enhanced performance and functionality of the communication equipment. In the past we have discussed the availability of applying an impulse transmission signal to a multi-drop transmission. However, in the case of a multi-drop transmission system, waveform distortion due to reflection is one of the main issues for high-speed application. In order to reduce the reflection of transmission lines, many approaches have been reported in the past, e.g. Asymmetrical Power Splitter (APS), Stub Series Terminated Logic (SSTL), Segmental Transmission Line (STL), and so on. However, drawbacks of amplitude loss at the receivers, or high power consumption due to excessively low impedance design, still remain in the reported methods mentioned above. In this paper, we introduce a new method of "reflection compensation line (RCL)," which can be applied to the multi-drop transmission system using an impulse transmission signal. The premise with the system in concerned, is that the multi-drop transmission line is constructed in isometric lengths of main bus segments and stub lines. The RCL method intentionally generates reflections to cancel the distortion at the receivers. The performance of the proposed RCL is confirmed using the SPICE simulation, and its applicability to practical systems is also discussed.
