摘要

A compact circular microstrip antenna with a U-shaped slot for dual band operation is proposed in this paper. The Antenna is designed on FR-4 epoxy substrate with a partial ground plane. The proposed antenna is compact with dimensions of the order of 0.31λ × 0.18λ × 0.01λ(λ is the wavelength of the first resonance frequency). The Antenna resonates at two frequency bands 2.45GHz and 3.5GHz, with an impedance bandwidth percentage of 15.5 and 10.2 respectively, finding its applications in WLAN/WiMAX bands. The maximum gain offered by the antenna within the frequency bands is observed to be 2.06dBi and 2.24dBi respectively with good radiation characteristics and efficiency.
