This paper presents a genetic-algorithm-based predictive control strategy to solve the control problem of satellite formation keeping. First, the relative dynamic model of satellites considering J2 perturbation in elliptic reference orbit is introduced. Then, a predictive controller is proposed to realize the control of the satellite formation. Moreover, in order to improve the control performance, the predictive control parameters P, M, q and r are optimized by genetic algorithm online. Simulation results show that the performance of predictive controller based on genetic algorithm is better than that of the traditional predictive controller.
