A Theory Calculation Model of Safety Detection Cycle for Existing Reinforced Concrete Structures

Detecting the safety of the structures regularly with a scientific and reasonable cycle is of great significance to ensure the structures security and usability and to reduce the accident probability of the buildings. On the base of the durability theoretical analysis, a theory calculation model of the safety detection cycle for the existing reinforced concrete structures was established considering the climate characteristics and the degradation rules of the building material performance and the load-bearing capacity of the structural members. As an example, using the proposed model the safety detection cycle of the existing reinforced concrete structures in Shanghai was calculated. According to the results, the theory calculation model of the safety detection cycle for the existing reinforced concrete structures has a good reasonability and the calculation results could provide the theory basis for the safety management and the decision making for the existing reinforced concrete structural buildings.
