1. Many different types of batteries are available and they are finding more widespread use in pulsed power applications due to the increase in their power and energy density 2. Batteries with potentials as high as 1 kV may be utilized and caution should be taken when designing dielectric gaps between the batteries and the surrounding structures 3. When batteries fail, they vent carbonates that contain non-toxic, toxic, and even flammable compounds 4. The work performed here has shown that at ambient pressure, the gasses from an LFP chemistry do not significantly impact the dielectric strength of the surrounding environment 5. Future work will verify other chemistries, pressures, and states of electrolyte.
