1. Suitable models and simulation of multi-layered media enable designers to perform what-if studies in order to identify most promising combinations of filter materials for a given application 2. The macroscopic approach, i.e. the formulation in terms of concentrations, reduces the hardware requirements to a minimum and computation is very quick.
