This document discusses the process behind developing an electrical system master plan and utility upgrade for a large pharmaceutical research, manufacturing, and office facility. The ultimate goal for the site is developing a more sustainable, resilient, and flexible campus. In the paper, the team outlines the process for developing a list of project drivers, steps through the three design options developed by the design and construction team and discusses the development of an implementation plan. This plan includes the design of the utility switchgear, the paralleling gear, and the sequence of operation for the new systems.
