Development of Terahertz Folded Waveguide Traveling Wave Amplifier

For meeting the myriad demands of high-bandwidth communications, biomedicine, material research and security check, the terahertz folded waveguide traveling wave tube (TWT) amplifier is developed. Through the solved key technologies of small electron gun cathode, miniature and low attenuation folded waveguide and assembly of THz TWT, it is tested through the setup of power and frequency experimental system. The measured results show that the power exceeds 2 W and bandwidth is greater than 5 GHz at frequency G-band. The higher output power THz TWT is being manufactured through the X-ray LIGA technology.
