This paper shows that the performance of nested spatial mapping, a method devised to convert dual data streams of MIMO system into a corresponding single stream with the down-scaling of the secondary stream, can be improved by the adoption of unequal modulation. This method helps to lower the required SNR of 256-QAM equivalent throughput of the nested spatial mapping compared with the previous works. Furthermore, it allows the achievement of the 1024-QAM equivalent peak throughput boosted up to 108.3Mbps, 25% increase from previous works or 50% increase from the peak conventional single data stream, with a single antenna configuration while still staying in the grammar of 802.11n.
