Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive technique to stimulate the brain by magnetically induced eddy currents through a coil positioned on the surface of the head [1, 2]. Recently, TMS has become an increasingly important therapeutic tool for the potential treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders such as depression and Parkinson's disease [3, 4]. However, the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects must be clarified to maximize efficacy and reduce risk. In this study, we investigated the safety aspects of TMS by focusing on long-term potentiation in the rat hippocampus.
