Spatial analysis of land use structure and levels of economic development of cities and towns in Shandong Province

In order to study the spatial and quantitative relationship between land use and economic development level of cities and towns in Shandong Province, land use and economic and social data of 108 cities and towns in Shandong Province were chosen. First of all, the global spatial autocorrelation Moran's I was calculated to explore the spatial agglomeration features of the amount of land use data and per capita of these data. And then the principal component analysis and GIS were applied to research the comprehensive level of economic development, spatial pattern of cities and towns in Shandong Province and its spatial agglomeration features. Finally, stepwise regression method was used to analysis the influence and the quantitative relationship of land use and economic development. The results show that the amount of various land use types in Shandong Province are not present spatial correlation, has the characteristics of random distribution; Land use per capita present certain spatial correlation and has the characteristics of spatial agglomeration. The economic development level of cities and towns in Shandong Province has the characteristics of spatial agglomeration. Main economic and social influence factors of various land use types are urban population, urban and rural residents savings balance, total social retail sales of consumer goods, the total exports, city maintenance and construction funds. Land use types to strongest explanatory to the economic development are residential land, green land and municipal land for public facilities. According to the conclusions, countermeasures and suggestions were put forward.
