Based on the dynamic model of semi-active air suspension with two degree of freedom quarter-car, a controller is designed using backstepping technology and sliding mode control. In the MATLAB/Simulink environment, the effect of backstepping sliding mode controller on car body acceleration, suspension dynamic travel and tire dynamic load is studied. The backstepping controller of the semi-active air suspension system is as the reference model to ensure the effectiveness of the backstepping sliding mode controller. The results show that, compared with backstepping controller, the proposed backstepping sliding mode controller in this paper is more effective in improving vehicle performance.
