Pipe pile cell foundations were constructed to support a new expresswayinterchange on a viaduct in a densely populated part of Tokyo, Japan. The Press-in PileDriving Method was chosen to drive 60-meter (197-foot) long and 800mm (31.5-inch)diameter pipe piles into a dense sand layer while minimizing noise and vibration during piledriving right under an existing expressway girder.
