In order to increase the efficiency of machine, it is required to measure the faults generated during operation by proper monitoring of the system. On the basis of several parameters like vibration, leakage of oil, noise, sound etc, faulty conditions of the machine can be predicted. Coal Ring Crusher plays a critical role in Coal Handling Plants (CHP) of Thermal Power Station. Our proceeding is to detect the faults generated in this machine whose improvement may lead to a significant reduction in maintenance and operating cost. In this paper, horizontal vibrations of the coal crusher are measured in the form of velocity with respect to time, from the bearing located at the non driving end of the crusher rotor. These collected data are helpful to understand the condition of machine parts during operation, on the basis of which proper maintenance can be suggested to protect the components of crusher for their optimum life.
