Highway Lichen Diversity

摘要

Tree trunk lichen communities were studied in forests adjacent to highway Ⅰ-40 and a control site. Differences were found both among and within sites suggesting highway-exposed forests are impacted by vehicle emissions. Further study is underway to determine a relationship between observed lichen diversity patterns and environmental nitrogen pollution concentrations presumably from vehicle emissions.
