1. A Qualitative Model for Filter-Related Electrostatics Has Been Developed Based On Double-Layer Theory. This Model Is Consistent With Most of the Available Data. 2. '3-Times Rule' for Residence Time For Charge Relaxation of Downstream Fluid May Be Too Short For Lubricants With Conductivities < 1000 pS/m, Because Charges Are Removed By the Filter, Reducing Liquid Conductivity. Inner Wall Deposits and/or Insulating Containers In The System May Further Increase Residence Times By Several Orders of Magnitude.
