Toshiba has supplied the full scope Traversing In-core Probe (TIP) system to the Cofrentes Nuclear Power Station in Spain in 2011. Toshiba has supplied drive control and flux monitoring unit, driving mechanism, indexing mechanism, and other related components to the Cofrentes Nuclear Power Station and the upgraded system is operating since November 2011. TIP system is to measure axial distribution of neutron or gamma flux in the reactor core of the Boiling Water Reactor (BWR). Toshiba has significant TIP operating experience in Japanese BWRs. Many design improvements based on the experience have been implemented to the mechanical components (driving mechanism, indexing mechanism). As well as full scope system upgrade, Toshiba has experience of partial upgrade of TIP system. The partial upgrade capability enables utilities phased upgrade approach which provides flexibility to the utility's maintenance plan. In the paper, TIP system configuration, experience of the TIP replacement and the performance of the TIP after installation are introduced. Toshiba' strategy for the upgrade of other key I&C system such as Reactor Manual Control System (RMCS)/Rod Position Indication System (RPIS) and Rod Control & Information System (RC&IS) will be also briefly introduced.
