To foster the development of graduate students into professionals, either for academia or industry, it is necessary that they be able to relate to, and apply classroom taught concepts to research of their own interests. This generally occurs later in the career of a graduate student through exposure at professional society meetings; however, the work presented here explores an approach that pushes students to develop these skills in their first year of study. Furthermore, this project provides the students with an opportunity to practice and receive feedback on their presentation skills prior to any professional presentation.
