A power management circuit with a dedicated control chip for an impact-type piezoelectric micro-wind energy harvester was designed and implemented in this study. Based on the analysis of the output characteristics of impact-type piezoelectric energy harvester, a buck-boost converter is used to realize the function of alternated resistive matching impedance strategy for obtaining maximum power. The dedicated control chip integrates an oscillator with two kinds of oscillating periods, an operation mode selector module, and an overvoltage protection circuit for load battery. The simulation results of the dedicated control chip verified the circuit functions well, and the start-up voltage is as low as 1.59V, if the load battery is completely drained.
