Blending Modernization Projects in Chevron: Best Practices, Success Stories, Lessons Learned, and Future Plans

Chevron is a major oil company with refinery operations in many countries including the USA, Canada, and South Africa. As part of ongoing refinery modernization, successful product blending is a key component because of its significant impact on refinery profitability. To ensure the success of the blending modernization projects, an extensive evaluation of blending software was carried out and a blending vendor partner selected. This paper examines the drivers and benefits for blending modernization, blending best practices, and the criteria used to evaluate vendors. It includes the results achieved by Chevron including economic benefits, success stories, lessons learned, and future plans.
