Thermo Physical Properties of Hard-Sphere Associating Chain Molecules

Due to flexibility of associating polymer and protein molecules, intramolecular association can have a significant affect on the thermodynamics properties of the associating chain molecules. The development of analytical expression for strongly associating chain fluids has proven to be difficult problem that have recently a great deal of attention. An exact statistical- mechanical treatment of chain molecules is difficult owing to the large number of internal degree of freedom. In this paper we have developed analytical expression for equation of state, Helmholtz free energy and thermodynamic chemical potential for a hard-sphere associating chain molecules and calculated value for contribution due to chain is compared with computer simulation results. The agreement is found to be good.
