In this paper, fuzzy interval observer observer-based model reference fault tolerant control (FTC) method is proposed to overcome cathode flooding of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) system. Firstly, the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy local fault model is established, which simplifies nonlinear gas flow system and can reproduce the healthy and flooding conditions. Then, flooding fault detection is realized based on T-S fuzzy interval observer, which avoids complex threshold selection. In order to estimate fault size effectively, fuzzy fault diagnosis observer is designed and regional pole placement is introduced to improve the fault estimation effect. Based on fault diagnosis results, design model reference tracking fault tolerant controller and compensate the influence of flooding. The simulation show that the control strategy of this paper is more effective than the method without regional pole placement constraint.
