In this thesis, we propose a new approach for NVoD services while reducing the viewer's waiting time and the client's buffer requirements and using a given bandwidth. In providing VoD services in multicast network environment, the batching technique like Staircase Broadcasting is very efficient for serving a very hot-video in terms of resource requirements. However, the patching technique will achieve better performance if the video is not as popular. The proposed method shows that it substantially improves performance of VoD systems including viewer's waiting time and the client's buffering requirement. The HMP (Hybrid Multicast Patching) is applicable under any VoD service circumstances by adequately balancing the number of Staggered Broadcasting and Staircase Broadcasting channels.
