The Effect of Pedestrian Countdown Signals on Pedestrian Walking Speed

Older pedestrians walk slower than younger pedestrians regardless of PCS devices. Installation of PCS devices affects the crossing walking speed of pedestrians. Walking speed of older pedestrians is more significantly affected by PCS. After installation the crossing walking speed shifts closer to the normal walking speed.
