Performance of New Dry Sampler for Isocyanates

Eleven isocyanates can be simultaneously sampled and analyzed using ASSET EZ4-NCO (dry sampler). Isocyanates form stable DBA-derivatives and the sampler did not need to be processed immediately after spiking or sampling. A comprehensive extraction and analytical method was updated and tested in this study. The use of polypropylene plastic centrifuge tubes of certain brands was found to be acceptable during extraction procedure for shaking and centrifugation steps. Both LC-MS-MS and LC-MS analytical methods were found to be robust and sensitive for the quantitation of isocyanates down to single digit ppb levels.
