Determination of the Thermally Induced Lens in Laser Processing Heads by Means of a Reference Welding Process

In order to monitor the thermally induced beam distortions of laser processing heads especially when subjected to high-brightness beams and used in "dirty" environment we propose to use a simple laser welding process that can be performed without special training and avoids the use of expensive and involved diagnostics equipment.
