The application of dynamical systems techniques to mission design has demonstrated thatemploying invariant manifolds and resonant flybys enables previously unknown trajectoryoptions and potentially reduces the ΔV requirements. An analysis of planar resonant orbits,as well as the computation and visualization of the associated invariant manifolds is exploredin this analysis. Poincar′e maps are an effective tool in the search for unstable resonant orbitsand potential resonant transitions. Connections between the invariant manifolds associatedwith two-dimensional unstable resonant orbits for different energy levels are identified inthe Saturn-Titan system and resonant periodic homoclinic-type connections are also summarized.As an application of this design process, the accessibility of Hyperion from orbitsresonant with Titan is explored.
