Greece is a point of entry for illegal migrants, refugees and food products from countries in Asia and Africa due to its geographical position. The control mechanisms applied to these points and both concerns mobile population and consumer goods are thorough wherever possible. We have to admit that many times problems in management and coordination of actions at local and central level arise because of the massive population displacement and the illegal transit of goods. In addition, our country as a MS of the EU have to present to the Community all measures and methods taken for recording and managing the above issues both at central and regional level. The risk assessment and the risk management of emergencies related to public health incidents carried out by the surveillance and reporting systems that has the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention (HCDCP). The Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) of the HCDCP as well other bureaus and departments of the HCDCP, is responsible for the regular and uninterrupted operation of these systems. The main operation of the EOC is to receive and provide information related to public health and the management and risk assessment of emergencies events of Public Health.
