The ovary multi-locule and few-locule tomato were used to study the effect of paclobutrazol (GAs synthesis inhibitor,ppp) treatment on tomato's locule numbers and relative expression of fasciated gene under low temperature. In low temperature and control condition, multi-locule and few-locule tomatoes were sprayed paclobutrazol at 25,50,100,200mg/L and water respectively. Real time RT-PCR was utilized to analyze the expression of fasciated gene. The results showed that low temperature conditions increase the ovary locule numbers and decrease the relative expression of fasciated gene in tomato; furthermore, lower concentration of paclobutrazol treatment induced more numbers of tomato ovaries compared with higher concentration and the relative expression of fasciated gene was lower. This study suggested that the increase of the tomato's locule numbers in low temperature conditions might be due to the increase of endogenous GAs in tomato.
