The effects of applying Aremonium cellulase (AC) and Meicelase (MC) on the fermentation quality and the digestibility of roll bale silage made with rice straw were investigated. The results showed that all cellulase addition significantly increased the contents of lactic acid and total acids compared with the control (P < 0.05). AC and AC+MC added silages had lower pH values than the control and MC treatment (P < 0.05). All the silages contained lower NH3-N contents and no butyric acid was detected. Cellulase addition of AC, MC and AC+MC tended to reduce the contents of crude fiber, NDF, ADF and cellulose, but they all did not reach a significant level (P > 0.05). Cellulase addition significantly increased the digestibilities of crude fat, crude protein, crude fiber, NDF and ADF in silage (P < 0.05). Compared with the control silage, the TDN contents of silages added with AC, MC and AC+MC were increased by 13.1%, 8.3% and 14.1%, respectively.
