The collapsibility of loess will lead to a large settlement, fracture, and lean of building, Lead to different degrees of hazards to the building, seriously affecting the safety and using of buildings. Therefore, buildings should avoid the damage caused by the collapsible, as the foundation of flooding in loess regions. At the design stage, designers should take three major integrated building design measures, they are foundation treatments, structural measures and waterproofing measures. The design measures should be based on site conditions, building type, the engineering properties of loess, and taking account of local building experience, construction and maintenance conditions, and so on. At the construction stage, the engineer shall arrange construction organization reasonably, based on the engineering properties and design requirements of the collapsible loess. Except to ensure the quality of the project in accordance with the construction requirements, the engineers should pay special attention to water, to prevent the rain water and construction water immersion the building foundation.
