Experiences with including energy engineering topics embedded in homework assignments in a required course and an elective mechanical engineering course rather than in a dedicated and/or required energy engineering course are discussed. Examples of assignments containing energy engineering aspects from the two courses are presented and discussed. Salient energy engineering features of the examples are examined. The procedure is assessed as being an effective one to ensure that all mechanical engineering students at Mississippi State University have some exposure to energy engineering topics and concepts.
