ALTERNATIVE SOURCES OF ENERGY IN THE CZECH ENERGY MIX SOURCES ALTERNATIVES DANS LE MIX ENERGETIQUE TCHEQUE

Our paper features a basic outline of the situation in the energy sector of the Czech Republic. It brings information about the current state of the country's energy mix and indicative targets of the State Energy Policy expected to shape future development of the energy sector. Though coal and nuclear energy will remain the country's energy staples, great stress is also put on the growth of share of renewable and alternative energy sources. Out of these, the greatest potential in the Czech Republic is that of biomass and waste. To make the use of these sources cost-effective, it is necessary to put stress on heat and power cogeneration, particularly by way of decentralised generation and micro-generation.
